2017 Annual Meeting “Making a Difference” RECAP
On April 12th and 13th, 271 attendees gathered at The Forum Conference Center in Fishers, IN to learn, network, and grow as a health professional. We were excited that this year’s theme, Making a Difference, was able to provide a platform for a wealth of knowledge from professionals across the nation. Additionally, we were able to share how Hoosier RDs make a difference each day through our #MakingADifference campaign; videos can be found on our Facebook & Twitter pages. Share how you continue to make a difference using this hashtag, #IAND, and #HoosierRD!
2017 brought us quite a few changes, including:
- A beautiful new venue that allowed us updated accommodations, easy-access, and a great caterer.
- Food demonstrations in the Exhibits & Marketplace
- Volunteering at Gleaners Food Bank of Indianapolis
- Packed >3500 backpacks
- Organized >7 tons of food
- Sorted 3150 pounds of snacks
We continued the 2-day Silent Auction, which started in 2016, which allowed us to raise over $1200 for future IAND Scholarships and The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Foundation! Speaking of raising money – IAND PAC brought in over $2500, reaching our goal and helping to increase IAND’s visibility and messages to our elected officials. To our students – we appreciate that you took time to be with us at this year’s meeting. For those of you who took part in the poster session or applied for scholarships, you rock! It’s important, as young professionals, to be involved in the bigger picture of dietetics. Whether you’re an undergraduate student, grad student, an intern, or somewhere in-between, know that IAND, The Academy, and all of its members provide you with a wealth of resources at your fingertips.
