Policy & Legislative
Public policy is the system of laws and legislation, regulatory measures, courses of action, and funding priorities made by governmental entities and its representatives. Legislative decisions impact our daily lives AND our profession. The IAND board, along with its members, and community partners advocate for nutrition and public policy that advances the profession and improves the wellbeing of people at the federal, state, and local levels.
The IAND Policy Committee:
Dinah Dalder, state regulatory specialist
Erin Hurst, nutrition services payment specialist
Stacey Matavuli, IAND president-elect
Katherine Matutes, state policy representative
Krystina Smack, public policy coordinator
Initiatives:
- Submit legislation to enact Dietitian Interstate Licensure Compact
- Pursue policy change with Indiana Medicaid to create pathway for RDNs to become eligible for reimbursement for providing services to IHCP members
- Work with Indiana State Department of Health to enact diet order writing in long term care facilities
